The Real Issues Facing former Jehovah's Witnesses
by AllTimeJeff inon internet forums such as these, it is to be expected that there will be people who want to save jw's.
esp from (thinking for) themselves.. however, the real dillema's facing an ex jw who leaves, whether on their own terms or being disfellowshipped are real and haven't changed.. .
lonliness, how to make friends, is a big issue.. fear, esp fear based on superstition, a fear of god and of the future that is not in any way based in proveable fact.. education, how to think and reason critically to avoid being taken advantage of is a big challenge.. love, sex, and how to navigate your way around all of that hot mess.. geez, yeah, forgot.

To all who posted, thank you! My older brother was admitted to the hospital two days ago and my mind and efforts have been spent in doing what I could. There is surely a divide between me and many who post here. But that divide is not insurmountable. I do love you all.

Moshe,
Yes, they would have to act as a group. But they do not, they cannot. Let me be frank, how many brothers and sisters who have left their Jehovah's Witness faith have remained believers in God's existence? Does anyone here have a number for this? Now, let me ask, what incentive do I, or other Witnesses who question the leadership, have to encourage our friends to leave their faith? Can we honestly hope that all our friends who leave will remain believers in God?
You ask that we kill our own, I realize you do not think of it that way, but for us that is the reality. No, we will not kill our own. We will sooner work against all who vilify the Watchtower than kill our own. Yes, the Watchtower that insists at times in killing us, ourselves. I take the example of the U.S. again, Americans may disagree with their leadership and even hate what they do, but few will leave and few will take up arms against what they believe is a government based on good principles. We feel likewise with respect to the Witness faith.
Did you hear what this old man said? This old man who took the name, Damn The Watchtower? I would never encourage my brother or sister to leave their faith because, in truth, what is outside of the our faith is at the very least unknown and at most may lead to unbelief in God's existence.
Do not think we are all idiots led by idiots. No, we are lovers of God who at times are in shame over our leadership but we still love our God.
Thank you, Moshe, for your kind words.

Hello Moshe,
Have you read Br. Raymond Franz' book, Crisis of Conscience? If so, then you know that he did not leave the Witness faith when he left Bethel. He moved and continued attending meetings at the local Kingdom Hall. Are you saying he was one of those pigs at the trough you have pictured above? I don't think you are but please know that Br. Franz was not the only one to see the error and remain. Why did he remain? I don't know but I do know why I remain. And if you believe me to be a pig at a trough so be it. I am in good company, brother.
Attacks do not make for informative conversation. Br. Franz dispensed what you call slop for many years. Hard to understand the lack of effort to at least communicate in a decent manner.

I am not blind to the degrading of the Watchtower. But first, let me say that many, including myself, are happy with some good changes. Among them the emphasis on family worship night, the invitation to freely comment on several parts at the meetings. The friends are doing a better job at commenting not just from the paragraphs but from their own hearts and minds this I believe is due to the increased free commenting. Also, many of our young people are energized to participate in fulltime service.
The Watchtower leadership is crumbling before our very eyes in their writing. They are crumbling as a result of their new generation overlapping teaching, their crumbling is obvious at the conventions and assemblies. There is hardly any area where many of my generation do not see the cracks and strains in what comes from the Governing Body. We keep going because we love Jehovah not because we love the Governing Body!

I watch the Watchtower leaders crumble, slowly crumble. One nonsensical move after the other. You have no idea how this makes me feel. A part of me is startled at the sight of it. Another part is happy to see it. Why is a part of me happy? Because it is only by crumbling can a rebuilding take place. I know that I'm not the only one to see it, many of my fine brothers and sisters see it.
Seeing it in slow motion, at once both beautiful and sad, is a drama that is playing out before our very eyes. I trust in Jehovah and I know that he will take care of all those who seek to love their fellow man both in and out of the Watchtower. And as well as all those among mankind who truly love their fellow.

Ray Publisher,
I was asked what it means to be a Jehovah's Witness, I gave what I felt were general beliefs that all Jehovah's Witnesses could agree with.

No Room For George,
I'm not one to throw stones when my house is made of glass. I do not believe in the Trinity but to believe or not to believe in the Trinity is an individual choice that I have no right to criticize. While I preach no Trinity, I leave to others to preach what they believe.
